How much distance should the monitor be while I play?

If you are one of the fans of video games, it is important to know that you have to maintain a special care with your eyes to avoid conditions in them. Here we will explain the proper space that should be between your eyes and the monitor so you can play without fear of damaging your eyesight.

The right distance to the screen

It has been shown that most people who spend a lot of time on computers suffer from Computer Vision Syndrome (CWS). If you are a video game player and spend more than 2 hours in front of the monitor, whether it is a laptop or a desktop. The separation between your eyes and the screen should not be less than 40 cm.

If you want to have a better optimization of your vision, we recommend that the distance is between 65 and 70 cm. This way, you will avoid eyestrain and eye irritation.

Other recommendations

  • The tilt of the monitor is also very important for eye protection. Its lower part should be closer to you than the upper part. This is when the screen can be tilted. Otherwise, you can help yourself with some support that allows you to place it in the recommended position.
  • Your eyes should pause for a short time with a few blinks to prevent them from drying out.
  • The computer cannot be too high, as this forces you into inappropriate positions that affect your neck. It also makes your eyes more open, leaving them more exposed to the environment.
  • Decrease the reflections that are projected on the monitor and maintain adequate lighting in the environment.

What about the right distance on other screens?

We already know that video games can also be played on other devices, for which there are some recommendations between the screen space and your eyes. If it is a mobile, the ideal is that there should be a 30 cm separation, while a Tablet should be used with a 40 cm space.
